GHLands : Several areas across the occupied West Bank have witnessed a series of attacks over the past hours targeting farmers, agricultural land, and civilian property during the olive harvest season. The incidents included the cutting down of productive trees, theft of crops, vandalism of agricultural facilities, gunfire, arrests, and raids.
In the village of Kisan, southeast of Bethlehem, settlers cut down around 140 productive olive trees early Sunday morning. The trees belonged to resident Ali Mousa Abu Diya and were located in the western part of the village.
Attacks on Farmers and Property
Near Bethlehem, Palestinian Red Crescent crews treated a resident who was shot with live ammunition in the thigh in the Wadi al-Hummus area.
The Wadi al-Shaer area, located between Salfit and the village of Al-Lubban Al-Sharqiya south of Nablus, also witnessed attacks during an activity organized to support farmers in harvesting olives. No injuries were reported.
In the Al-Dhuhur area north of Deir Istiya, northwest of Salfit, settlers vandalized an agricultural room in an area near a settlement outpost established about two and a half months ago.
In Kafr Malik, east of Ramallah, settlers released their livestock onto Palestinian-owned land, while local sources reported the theft of olive crops in the village of Umm Safa, northwest of Ramallah.
In Majdal Bani Fadil, south of Nablus, settlers cut electricity poles and stole the cables, causing a power outage in the northern part of the village.
Attacks in Southern Hebron and Nablus
In southern Hebron, settlers attacked the Wadi Ajihish area in the town of As-Samu. They also set fire to a mobile home and an agricultural structure in Wadi al-Rakhim in Masafer Yatta while chasing residents and farmers.
In the Ma’in area south of Hebron, sheep were stolen amid heavy live gunfire. No injuries were reported, according to local sources.
In Nablus Governorate, a resident of the town of Salem, east of the city, was assaulted and detained in the area between Salem and Beit Dajan. His olives and harvesting equipment were confiscated before he was released and transferred to a hospital in Nablus for treatment.
Israeli forces also fired tear gas at olive pickers in the Abu al-Butm area of Salem village, with no injuries reported.
Raids and Closures Disrupt the Olive Harvest
Israeli forces raided the city of Nablus on Sunday afternoon and deployed in several streets, firing tear gas canisters. A number of people suffered from tear gas inhalation, including school students, before the forces withdrew from the city.
South of Nablus, Israeli forces continued to seal off the village of Madama and closed its main and secondary roads. The restrictions coincided with land leveling and the uprooting of olive trees, preventing residents from moving freely and returning to the village by vehicle.
In Jenin Governorate, Israeli forces carried out raids and arrests in several areas, including the detention of former prisoner Hassan Zughal and his son Mohammad after raiding their home in the village of Zububa, west of Jenin.
The forces also arrested Moayad Abdul Rahim Azzamta while he was harvesting olives in the village of Aba, east of Jenin, while farmers were expelled from their land near the town of Jaba, south of the city.
Demolition Notices and Farmer Detentions in Jenin
In Aba village, east of Jenin, Israeli forces issued demolition notices for agricultural greenhouses. A group of farmers was also detained near the town of Anin, west of Jenin, and one of them was arrested while harvesting olives on his land.
The forces also closed gates at the entrances to Kufeirit and Ya’bad, southwest of Jenin, and began paving the road connecting the Ya’bad junction with the entrance to the Dotan settlement.
These incidents come as Palestinian farmers face growing difficulties in reaching their land during the olive harvest season, amid repeated attacks on trees, crops, and agricultural equipment, as well as expulsions, arrests, and closures that disrupt harvesting activities.
