New Settlement Established Southeast of Jenin

 

GHLands : Israeli occupation authorities established a new settlement named “Noa” on Monday, south of the settlements of “Ganim” and “Kadim,” which were built on Palestinian-owned land southeast of Jenin.

The establishment ceremony was attended by several Israeli ministers and members of the Knesset, in a move reflecting growing official Israeli support for settlement expansion in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The establishment of “Noa” comes amid the escalating Israeli settlement project in the northern West Bank, particularly in areas from which Israeli settlements were evacuated in 2005 as part of the so-called “Disengagement Plan.” In recent months, the area has witnessed the establishment of settlement outposts, along with increased land leveling, road construction and the seizure of Palestinian land.

The new settlement is part of a broader plan to create new settlement realities on the ground by establishing new communities and expanding existing settlements. These measures threaten Palestinian agricultural land and risk further disrupting geographical contiguity between towns and cities in the Jenin Governorate and its surrounding areas.
